Moray Waste Busters Gets a Mention in the Scottish Parliament

Our Marketing & Education Co-ordinator Kay Ford went down to the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, Edinburgh on Tuesday 17th November for the first Scottish Social Enterprise Awards for which Moray Waste Busters had been shortlisted.

In his speech, Mr Swinney paid tribute to the nine nominees (three in each category) saying they had been selected from a competitive and crowded field and were chosen because they were shown to be particularly innovative in the field of social enterprise.

Although we did not win our category (Best Small Social Enterprise) we were presented with a certificate by Cabinet Minister John Swinney MSP. Kay also had the chance to meet other representatives from many social enterprises from all over Scotland and MSPs including Rob Gibson (Highlands & Islands) who tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating Moray Waste Busters and commending us as a leading example of how a social enterprise can also be a viable business.
